I am Douglas Torpy, I am running for Seat 1 on the Indian Harbour Beach City Council in the November 7, 2023 election, and I want to earn your vote.
As a parent with children attending our local public schools and a homeowner, I have a deeply personal stake in the future and well-being of our City. My family values our community’s close-knit, small beach town atmosphere, and assuring the safety of our neighborhoods and preserving our sense of community are priorities close to my heart.
That’s why I am running for Seat 1 on the Indian Harbour Beach City Council.
As a successful business owner, I understand the need to look ahead, act proactively and find practical solutions. Upon election to Seat 1 of the Indian Harbour City Council, I will apply those concepts to our City’s management.
I believe in communication and collaboration, that listening and engaging others on issues to get things done. I also believe that our civic leaders must make informed decisions reflecting our core principles and protecting our community’s long-term well-being. If elected to Seat 1 of the Indian Harbour City Council, I will be guided by these principals in the administration of our City.
As a member of our City Council, I promise to be approachable, and to listen to and be responsive to your concerns.

As a successful businessman I understand how to manage both financial and human resources.
As a Florida native, I appreciate Florida’s diverse natural environment, and am committed to preserving the Florida we all know and love for our children and grandchildren. As a member of organizations such as the National Turkey Federation and Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) of Florida, I have worked towards preserving Florida’s environment.
I believe in giving back to my community and spending a lot of my free time volunteering. During the past spring, I was assigned the responsibility of creating plaques to honor the local business for their support towards our school's mural project. It was a gratifying experience.
I am eager to use my skills, knowledge and experiences to serve our community as a City Council member.
